The meta|φραση School of Translation Studies provides the only specialized translation training in Greece. Founded by British Council translation teachers and professional translators with many years of experience, students are trained in the craft of translation to bring them to a high standard of linguistic competence, both in English and Greek. Instruction is in selected specialised areas of translation, with emphasis on terminology, register and style. Students are introduced to current theories of translation with particular attention given to translation methods and procedures, with courses and seminars in latest Computer Assisted Translation technologies and techniques, including SDL Trados and Deja Vu X (DVX). Instruction is also offered in software and website localisation, and subtitling.
The meta|φραση School of Translation Studies is a must for anyone involved, or interested in these subjects. Another, perhaps unexpected benefit of the instruction is some basic training in computer usage, with a great variety of usually simple and clever ways to get around problems quickly and use a computer faster and more effectively, which even advanced computer users often miss.
The meta|φραση School of Translation Studies collaborates with 2 leading British universities, The University of Portsmouth and University of Surrey, as well as The Institute of Linguists, from which several internationally recognized diplomas and postgraduate awards in translation may be earned.
